Symantec Backup Exec, error e0008115 - Physical volume library, or robot paused, offline, or disabled.

Solution:
Clean the Tape Drive

  1.  Insert the Cleaning Tape into the Tape Drive.

  2. When inserted, the Cleaning Tape will automatically perform the Cleaning Process and automatically eject after a brief moment.

  3. Re-insert the Cleaning Tape a few times to fully clean the tape drive.
Refresh Symantec Backup Exec Device Pool



  1. From within the Microsoft Windows System Control Panel - Hardware Devices, right-mouse click the Tape Drive and select Uninstall.

  2. From within Symantec Backup Exec - Devices, right-mouse click the Tape Drive found in Device Pools - All Devices and select Remove.

  3. From within Symantec Backup Exec, click the Services button in the lower right-hand corner and select Stop All Backup Exec Services.

  4. From within the Microsoft Windows System Control Panel - Hardware Devices, right-mouse click the Computer and Scan For Hardware Changes.

  5. From within Symantec Backup Exec, click the Services button in the lower right-hand corner and select Restart All Backup Exec Services.

  6. Close Symantec Backup Exec.

  7. Re-open Symantec Backup Exec.

  8. From within Symantec Backup Exec - Devices, right-mouse click Device Pools - All Devices and select Add Device.

  9. Place a check mark in the All Devices check box and click OK.
The Symantec Backup Exec Device Pool is now refreshed and the backup job should now go back to working.
